As my daughters 1st birthday is coming up I decided I wanted to try a cake smash with her as i missed out on my other childrens 1st birthdays. I opted for making my own cake as I wasn't sure how isobelle would take to "smashing the cake". My first attempt at a "crazy cake" (eggless, butterless, milkless?) cake failed miserably! so I bought two packets of cheap vicoria sponge mix and baked them up! Came out much better than attempt number 1 so i let them cool and betty crockered them up with strawberry icing!

I could never be a cake maker! lol but the cake was going to be destroyed anyway so i didn't worry too much about how terrible it looked.

I thought a black backdrop would be perfect for this session to help the colours stand out (and as a bonus it won't stain ;) )

Isobelle headed for the cake as soon as she saw it. She wasn't as delicate as some babies I have done cake smashes for in the past (not surprised, she is my daughter!), she got stuck in straight away!

My daughter loved smashing and eating the cake and I enjoyed taking the photos...and getting smothered in cake when she finally decided to climb on me! :D I hope to do alot more cake smashes in the future!
